the week in photos.

when you’re in the air conditioning, packing for a weekend of college football & drinking pumpkin beer ..your brain screams “FALL!!!“. then you open the door and 100° temps slap that crazy idea right out of your mind. oh well. nothing can bring me down – football is here!!  and fall will come soon enough.

[J] & I are headed to our college town of iowa city, IA to join in on the festivities.

it has been so long since I’ve been back. I’m excited to spend the weekend wandering our old stomping grounds. and cheering on the football team, of course.

[we’re also going to dinner tonight at the spot of our very first date. almost 6 years later].

before I leave town, let’s do ..

the week in photos.

week in photos, Aug 30 //

while [J] was away on business, I took myself to the downtown des moines farmer’s market.

and I couldn’t leave without my standard iced coffee + breakfast burrito, which I got in “bowl” form. to switch it up a bit.

I also picked up some fresh blueberries. to vodka infuseI’ll be sharing a recipe using blueberry-infused vodka next week.

and this is what happens when your fiance’s golden birthday rolls around & you get the bright idea to DIY. thankfully the majority of the glitter is either so deep into our carpet we’ll never see it again or sucked up by the vaccum. but those gold confetti stars are haunting me, wherever I go.

and with that .. it’s time to get this weekend started!

if you don’t already, follow me on {instagram} + {twitter}. I’m sure to be an unpredictable, pretending to be twenty-one again, ball of fun. maybe!

one more thing.

in “honor” of my birthday, I’m offering ..

I have a one-track mind. straight to next week ..

and I cannot wait to welcome it with open arms a happy dance.

why you ask?

I draft my first ever fantasy football team on monday night – with a group of fellow bloggers, led by the sweet {karoline with a K}. [side note: I’m creating a football sunday costume; you’ll see].  and I wake up the next morning, a year older. hello 26th birthday. followed by [J]’s birthday on wednesday. and in case that wasn’t enough excitement for one week football begins next saturday! which hopefully means a trip to the university of iowa ..for a little tailgating + family time.

now that my mind is entirely focused on next week, let’s take a look at ..

the week in photos.

[J] & I reached gold level at starbucks this week. it clearly means we go there entirely too often, but what else it means ..I’m not quite sure? free iced coffees for a lifetime? I’d like to think.

we have officially entered our “two week birthday celebration” period. I’d settle for one week, but [J] & I’s birthdays are back to back days a week for him & a week for me is how it is justified. as if it needs to be. we kicked it off on tuesday with a good ol’ fashion date night; cocktails, followed by a movie, and a delicious seafood dinner with our friends.

and last night I put on my party shoes. and went out for dinner with my aunt.

oh and had another alcoholic beverage. I’m celebrating. orrr mourning the loss of my early 20’s. not quite sure where they ran off to so quickly.

regardless twenty-six can’t be so bad. as long as I can remember my actual age. I’m a serial “24 year old”. but never on purpose, seriously.

happy weekend.

sorry we party.

on saturday, we woke up stress-free [the event had been a success …& was over!!].. to coffee & bagels. clearly knowing it was destine to be a great day. what was our plan? to party. I don’t know if you’ve met a hawkeye football fan before, but we take our game days very seriously. and regardless of the outcome, we will enjoy ourselves.

the game: the university of iowa vs the university of northern iowa.

two places close to my heart. one being where I attended college [go hawkeyes]. the other in the town I grew up in [when you’re not playing iowa, go panthers]. so [J]’s parents, my mom, my friend [ash], [J], & I headed over to a neighborhood bar & grill.. all decked out in our black & gold.

[he was forced into rolling his pants legs up for this].

[like mother, like daughter].

we drank. we ate. we cheered. & we won.

the party didn’t stop there.

it was a gorgeous night, so… we continued the party in the tree house.

[until it got dark].

then the night was still too young to quit, so… we played drinking games. while my mother acted as DJ; of some of the finest 70’s music.

sunday was a tad on the rough side. but sometimes you just have to be responsibly irresponsible. & celebrate the win to the fullest, because you don’t know when the next one will be. [just kidding. I’m a hawkeye through it all].

cannot wait to see what next saturday brings :)

happy tuesday.
