we have entered the time of our lives where jobs, promotions, new homes, engagements, wedding, and babies are the norm. it’s fun to celebrate your friend’s successes, as well as your own. [but thankfully when [J] gets promoted, I can just bring him a 6-pack of his favorite beer & he’s content]. but it can get mundane. it’s like you fall into a pattern. you find out the occasion, purchase your go-to gift, and voilà.
time for a gift-giving face lift.
I typically start with a pretty basket and fill it with goodies that fit a theme.
our friends just recently purchased a beautiful home. and to celebrate I thought..moscow mules. seriously. it’s summertime. they have a great outdoor space. and who doesn’t love moscow mules?
the essentials: vodka, ginger beer, lime juice [and/or limes], paper straws, & a pretty picture frame of the moscow mule recipe. for fun, I added a summery candle.
do not forget the card.
if you have a friend, family member, or significant other that really likes beer ..this DIY is for you.
one random tuesday morning at 9AM, my fiance calls me,
asking begging me to go to the liquor store. at 9AM on a tuesday. apparently this beer, called hopslam, brewed by bell’s is only released once a year and it goes fast. so I changed out of my pajamas and off I went, feeling ridiculous & passing judgement on myself.
all in the name of love
I kept repeating.
then to further show my love, I turned his beloved hopslam six-packs into coasters that he can keep forever.
all you need is: glue, mod podge, a paint brush, a plain white tile [you can get these at any hardware store], and a 6-pack carrier.
cut the beer logo out and trim to size of tile.
add a layer of mod podge to the tile. dot glue around the edge of beer logo. center & let dry.
paint on multiple layers of mod podge. [be sure to get around the edges]. let dry. and ..
you are finished.
[secure felt circles to the tile’s corners – you can get these at the hardware store too].
these DIY coasters make for a very personalized, thoughtful gift. sure to be a hit.
perhaps for valentines day ..
happy flippin’ friday. it’s here. and came awfully quickly.
my highlights of the week.
1 // I thought I pinned a lot of wedding-related pins before I was engaged. now that I’m actually planning a wedding, it is out of control. last night I spent hours drinking wine + planning my wedding via photos on the internet. #LLinaBCGetsHitched on pinterest. now I need to organize it into smaller categories. but I’ll save that for the next snowy day.
2 // inspirational quote of the week.
3 // when [J] & I made the decision to move from the chicagoland to des moines, IA ..we were frequently asked “why”. now we can say because it’s “America’s Wealthiest City” according to the Today Show. which means it has to be true. [I start every day with matt, al, savannah, & natalie. and want hoda & KLG’s job].
des moines, where regular folks can live the rich life.
4 // go to bridal shows. they’re overwhelming & remind you just how big a task planning a wedding is. but it’s a one-stop shop for vendors. and you can win great items! [J] & I won a one-hour swedish massage, which will absolutely come in handy. and we won an iPod shuffle from a local printing company we plan to use! when I went to pick it up, they took my photo for their FB page ..
[just a bit frazzled looking; it was early & I had just spent the previous two hours shopping for bridesmaid dresses].
have the best weekend.
see you monday.
