just when you think you should slow down your wine intake on account of the new year, you discover it’ll help spruce up your home. so you continue as you were.
I believe in the beauty of wine bottles. and in recycling, or better re-purposing them. as candle holders. or possibly a vase.
I was searching for a way to divide the eating portion of our peninsula from our sink, and think I found the prettiest barrier.
and of course, we keep the corks. and any significant dates
like [J]’s golden birthday we make sure to document before adding to our collection.
have I convinced you?
time to go restock the wine rack!
the first thing I did this morning was plug in the twinkly lights on our tree and crank up the christmas carols.
after I made a pot of coffee, of course.
merry christmas eve!
my family is passing through des moines today on their way out to colorado. so [J] + I are happily hosting a christmas eve feast at our sweet little
possibly too small for 7 apartment. we’ll be carrying on my family’s tradition and making a big pan of lasagna. nothing like carb-overload to put you in a deep sleep, so santa can sneak down the chimney. at least that’s what I presume. [J]’s family also has a scrumptious christmas eve tradition, of seafood chowder. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. we’ll be missing it this year. ahhh, why can’t we be in two places at once?
does your family have a traditional feast?
I need to get back to transforming the apartment into a cozy, christmas wonderland. but I wanted to share a couple scenes from around here ..
my christmas eve to yours.
even a dinner of seven needs place cards. and they need glitter.
I purchased gold ornaments from the dollar store & hot-glued pieces of wine cork to the bottom, to serve as a stand.
merry christmas eve!!
I can’t focus. I am so excited. [J] + I are traveling to chicago this afternoon, to spend the weekend. the city is so beautiful this time of year. and there are so many amazing holiday activities to enjoy.
[don’t let it snow on our road trip. please].
in other exciting news, I was browsing instagram this morning and stumbled upon this gem from a fellow blogger. all 3-wick candles from bath & body works are $8 in store today only! [they’re regularly $20]. their holiday scents will immediately bring christmas to your house. they’re amazing.
now for the week in photos, according to instagram.
it’s been quite cold around these parts. it’s all about the layers. and this extremely warm coat.
[J] got quite creative with the landscaping around his gingerbread house.
and I was channeling the north pole + santa claus.
this shot christmas decorations.
working on a DIY project that I’m very excited about. it’ll be up on all things E blog next week!
snapshot from my morning.
[*editor’s note: do not ask why I have a coffee mug from the view. I really don’t know. I have never even watched the show].
it is time to begin packing!
come on the trip with me instagram + twitter.
