wedding // bridal shower basket.

if there is one thing I’ve learned through the wedding planning process, it’s that planning a party is no easy task. once you have the large decisions made, there are never-ending details to attack.

as a soon-to-be bride, I have an unbelievable amount of love + support surrounding me. people who are willing to do so much to ensure I get the full “bridal experience”. it’s incredible. and truly eye-opening at just how lucky I am.

so I wanted to say thank you to those amazing people who hosted both of my bridal showers. and what better way than a sweet “party is over! now it’s time for you to relax” basket.

the contents: aloe-infused slippers. / ‘thanks a windmillion’ nail polish. / champagne. / mason jar wine glass [that [J] made]. / chocolate. / bath soap.

in addition to the basket, [J] designed the greatest card to go along with it. [it’ll be posted on LLinaBC’s facebook page later today. it’s a must see].

I made three of these baskets. and do you think I could take the time to photograph them? nope. grrr!

I got the baskets at TJ Maxx. they have a really good selection. so start there.

happy thursday.

pictures from both of my bridal showers coming soon!

health // bath time.

lately I’ve had a hard time turning my brain off at night.

to say there is a lot going on would be a severe understatement.

a nightly lavender epsom salt bath has been my savior. paired with candlelight, a notebook for my thoughts, and [once a week] a clay mask for my face.

[find epsom salt in your grocery store’s bath section or here].

the do’s + don’ts

do: light candles & turn off all artificial light.
don’t: bring your phone with you. [it won’t do well in water & you want to eliminate outside distractions].
do: play soft music or be in silence. whatever is more relaxing for you.
do: 20 minutes of complete + total brain drain. for some that’s eyes closed, silence. for others, its escaping in a book. or maybe, it’s writing out your thoughts. mine is a combination of all three. so find what works for you.
don’t: tell yourself you can’t find time to escape for a few minutes ..

the weekend is nearly upon us. and my first bridal shower. woo hoo.

happy thursday.

in the kitchen // summer beers.

I’m a beer drinker. but not exclusively. I don’t discriminate against alcoholic beverages. unless it’s a dirty martini. that’s [J]’s cocktail of choice. and I tried a sip on our very first date, 6 years ago, and have refused it since. I’d say it’s taste resembles being swept under a wave in the pacific ocean with your mouth wide open. picture that.

when the temperatures increase, so do my fruity beer cravings.

[*editor’s note: I say fruity, because they are all brewed with fruit. but they are not “sweet fruity”. they’re delicious fruity. in my language,  not “too sweet” that you can’t drink more than one. they’re a ‘lounge poolside & drink three’ kind of beers].
