[J] & I spent the weekend in chicago. and it didn’t go quite as planned.
it snowed the entire way, all 6 hours. I have a deep fear of winter driving
even from the passenger seat. so that was fun. we made the trip to celebrate christmas with [J]’s parents, but sadly there was a family emergency and we weren’t able to see them. it snowed all day saturday too. but we didn’t let that stop us, we ventured to macy’s & the christkindlmarket [a german christmas market]. and got an early gift, tickets to second city’s show “miracle on wells street“. it was my first comedy show and I absolutely loved it. we did get to visit a few family members & friends. then it snowed our entire drive back to des moines. shoot.
only 8 days until christmas!
don’t forget to make cookies, drink eggnog, watch at least
two eight christmas movies, and enjoy this time.
breakfast of champions // or just mine as of late. plain greek yogurt layered with granola, honey, cinnamon, & apples.
embracing the first snow. literally.
it’s been said I’m “hard on phones,” so [J] has kindly forced me to equip my phone with this otterbox case. at least it’s pink.
long story short, I was trying to take the case off my phone ..and it snapped in half. I kindly tweeted the company. and they sent me an exact replacement that same day. I was beyond happy. and now my phone’s safe again [from me].
it was 55° + sunny yesterday. and I realized I’m not quite ready for snow.
I must interrupt our regularly scheduled programming.
we had our first snowfall.
usually I’m the opposite of excited, but I got to enjoy it from the safety + warmth of the indoors. so it was rather beautiful. and I decided to create a celebration around it.
[J] is 110% against anything christmas-related before thanksgiving, but I convinced him to put up our outdoor icicle lights on sunday evening. saying it’d be miserable to put them up when there is snow on the ground. what the heck happens the very next day? snow!
baileys irish cream + peppermint schnapps // pumpkin macaroons.
best enjoyed in front of a warm fire.
the holidays are coming.
time to bust out the flannel pajamas + baileys.
