fashion // farmers market.

all saturday’s during the summer should start with a trip to the farmer’s market. should, not always. [occasionally my love for sleep gets in the way]. the earlier you arrive, the better. you beat the heat, the crowds, and get the best pick of produce. my trips always start with a stop at java joe’s for a large iced coffee. from there, I’m on a mission for the freshest fruits + veggies. and I rarely leave without a bouquet of pretty flowers.

a short summer dress is essential. it’s effortless [which I need before my morning coffee]. it’s quick [because I wake up minutes before I must leave]. it’s breezy. and it’s fun.

another essential, a crossbody bag. your hands need to be free for your iced coffee + fresh produce. bring your own reusable bag or basket for your purchases.

sorry I’m not sorry that I couldn’t put my iced coffee down long enough to snap these photos. it was early. ish.

happy monday.

see my favorite farmer’s market summer options ..

des moines // summer slowdown.

you’re never going to believe this …

it’s august.

the last full month of summer. the month I turn one year older wiser [my ‘golden’ birthday, to be precise]. one month closer to [J] & I’s impending nuptials. the month of my first dress fitting & first bridal shower. that happened fast.

I have been diligently working down my summer bucket list. and I’m scratching quite a few off the list, but I still have work to do.

here’s a bit of what I’ve been up to ..

dined [twice] at malo. neither times al fresco though. oops.

happy august!

hope you’ve been busy enjoying summer & crossing stuff of your bucket list. football season fall will be here before we know it.

des moines // summer is half over.

des moines // summer halfway c/o

I cannot stress enough: summer is half over. [and wonder the heck did that happen?]. the season to “squeeze it all in” tends to go by at a much more rapid pace, than say ..winter. but with the wedding mere months away, it’s going by even faster.

we have officially entered “summer bucket list crunch time”.

sadly, below is my updated list. I need to get busy. [and to be fair, I went to the farmer’s market, just didn’t walk away with a breakfast burrito I’m not counting it. I want a breakfast burrito!!].

• visit the downtown farmer’s market. don’t leave without out fresh flowers, a breakfast burrito, and a large iced coffee.

• drink with wild animals. [go to zoo brew].

• go cheer on the iowa cubs. // complete!

dine al fresco at malo. // complete [and so delicious!].

• go to jasper winery for a summer concert series nights.

• have a picnic at saylorville lake.

• take a 20-mile bike ride.

• have our engagement photos taken.

• go to the iowa state fair. [maybe for a concert?].

• visit 5 4 3 [new to me] des moines restaurants. // 2 down: mullet’s + malo [see #3].

• sample beers at a local brewery.

spend the fourth of july out of town. with friends + fireworks. // complete!

• go tent camping. [at least 1 night. and s’mores must be involved].

• attend an art festival.

• read 3 books. preferably poolside.

how are you doing on your bucket list? do you have any tips to maximize your summertime?

happy monday.
