fashion // farmers market.

all saturday’s during the summer should start with a trip to the farmer’s market. should, not always. [occasionally my love for sleep gets in the way]. the earlier you arrive, the better. you beat the heat, the crowds, and get the best pick of produce. my trips always start with a stop at java joe’s for a large iced coffee. from there, I’m on a mission for the freshest fruits + veggies. and I rarely leave without a bouquet of pretty flowers.

a short summer dress is essential. it’s effortless [which I need before my morning coffee]. it’s quick [because I wake up minutes before I must leave]. it’s breezy. and it’s fun.

another essential, a crossbody bag. your hands need to be free for your iced coffee + fresh produce. bring your own reusable bag or basket for your purchases.

sorry I’m not sorry that I couldn’t put my iced coffee down long enough to snap these photos. it was early. ish.

happy monday.

on the agenda: enjoying denver. and that is all.

day 11 #LLontheBIGroad //

I am happy to have jewel of {the style optimist} here. she’s talking one of my favorite colors, to say: chartreuse. [what a great word, right?].

after a look at this pretty & bold dress, I may even dare to wear this usually shied-away from color.

Hey beautiful peeps! I’m Jewel and I blog over at the style optimist. While Chelsea is on vacay, I thought I’d stop by and hang out. If you’ve peeked at my blog, you probably could tell that I live in colors, well not literally but you get the idea. I didn’t always have a colorful wardrobe, but I definitely don’t shy away from colors.

Do you ever have one of those colors you don’t wear much or think that it won’t look good on you?  Yellow/Chartreuse was that color for me. I never thought it looked good on my skintone, until I purchased this dress earlier this year and it quickly changed my mind about yellow/citrine color. For this outfit, I paired this dress with a burnt orange bag. I love the color contrast of the chartreuse and the burnt orange.  As you can see, I kept my heels and accessories on neutral territory as to avoid looking like like a bag of skittles. oh ps. Here are a few of my favorite Orange and Yellow looks. Here & Here

So tell me, do you dabble in color like me or are there certain colors you shy away from?

how absolutely beautiful is she & the dress?

I’d never guess orange + chartreuse. but I love it. maybe I’ll take a trip to the mall today?

[thank you jewel].

go show her some blog love!

flower child.

I cannot keep a plant or flower alive to save my life [sadly, it’s true]. I tend to respond better to living things that can tell me what they want. which is also one of the reasons why I have not had children yet.

back to the topic at hand ..

as much as I would love a lush garden, it’s never going to happen. [or not until I can afford a weekly landscaper]. but I love flowers .. so I wear them on my clothes, frequently.

[J] & I went out for “date night” last week before he left on a business trip. we decided to walk to the restaurant. and although it’s close in proximity, you have to walk through a couple grassy obstacles. [not appropriate for heels]. so I grabbed my nude leather flip flops & my favorite floral sundress ..and off we went.
