the week in photos.

it’s friday!

and thee very last day of may.

I was sure we were still in the month of april. if my memory serves me right, the rhyme goes “april showers bring may flowers”. I haven’t seen a dang flower. and it’s rained every single day this month. [only slight exaggeration]. it’s awful. my heart goes out to those who are affected by the flooding. so many people here in iowa. sadly, there’s no end to the rain in sight.

let’s ‘week in photos’ it.

week in photos, may 31 //

this has been the staple view out my window. it’s not fog. it’s a heavy downpour. ugh!

[J] refused to let the rain get him down. and brought summer to his wardrobe. love the color combo! [dress to impress at the grocery store].

my approach to bringing summer: booze. a carefully, hand-selected 6 pack of summery beers. [my favorite: {strawberry harvest lager} by abita].

and when we finally saw a break in the rain, we went walked to the movie theater. to see hangover 3. it’s been getting mixed reviews. but going by my laugh-o-meter, I enjoyed it. [our red solo cups are filled with water, of course. and yes, I said laugh-o-meter].

and mother nature also thought it was time for me to get some exercise. so she held off the rain just long enough for our soccer game last night. wasn’t that nice of her?

“a vivid memory”.

I got an elbow to the face in the aforementioned soccer game. very vivid. last night there was a tiny, slightly bloody scrape on my lip. and I’m scared to look in the mirror this morning. I love look at me, I’m tough battle wounds. don’t get me wrong. but not on the face people! I’m too old to rock a fat lip. and if I did, people would immediately assume relationship abuse. because what a 25 year old can’t be involved in contact sports? and for the record, [J]’s out of town. haha. [I laugh at my own jokes].

that’s it.

thank you jenni from {story of my life} for putting together such a fun challenge.

I was successful. I blogged every single day in may. pat on the back.

see you in june!

let go.

{blog every day in may}

“respond to this term: letting go”.

I could talk about letting go of ..

this challenge. because ..tomorrow is the last day. crazy! that went fast. [and I successfully blogged every day. woot!].

or letting go of my “idea of summer”. it won’t stop raining. I’ll get to the pool someday, maybe.

or of all my inhibitions. [just kidding].

or physically letting go of [J]. for the next 5 days, because he’s back on the road ..

letting go //

aren’t I just a wealth of deep, thought-provoking insight today?

tomorrow’s ‘the week in photos’ friday!

[and the last day of may].

see you then!

memory lane.

“five songs that speak to you or bring back memories”.

I don’t know if I can narrow it down to five. I cling to music to get me through, well, everything. every year, friendship, & struggle has a song [or five] that goes along with it.

breakaway by kelly clarkson. it takes me back to 18. getting ready to leave for college. as nervous as I was, I’d listen to this song and be excited of the possibilities ahead. even to this day.

[the next two I have loved since age 5].

forever young by rod stewart. it’s just a great song about growing up. and falling in love. when it comes on, I will sing loudly. regardless of my surroundings. be warned.

faithfully by journey. one word: classic. [& beautiful].

someone somewhere by jason reeves. this man has a way with words. and in college, I listened to him on repeat. this was one of my favorites. about finding you’re “someone”. and coincidentally, I found mine right around that time.

no boundaries by kris allen. anytime I’ve felt lost, or discouraged .. this is my go to. [“you can go higher. you can go deeper. there are no boundaries, above or beneath you. break every rule, because there’s nothing between you & your dreams“].

I thought the hardest part would be picking five songs. nope, it was trying to get these songs & my blog to cooperate. if they look goofy, I apologize. I wrestled with them for hours. they’re stubborn.

on that note, [grrrr], I’m off to go get some work done. and watch it rain, again.

[I have another post coming later today. since I’m a day behind in the ‘challenge’].

happy thursday.
