when it comes to my personal style, I prefer simple + comfort. I tend to steer clear of high trends + big statements. I am a jeans + tee shirt kind of girl. my trick to pulling it all together: fun accessories. I will pick the grey or black tee any day of the week. but when it comes to accessories, give me a gorgeous necklace + brightly colored handbag. they’ll disguise my jeans + tee as a put together look any day of the week.
I teamed up with the lovely ladies of chloe + isabel by kaytee & bri. and during our talks, they thought it’d be fun to host a giveaway. I was all on board. we jointly picked + I fell head over heels with this sedona east-west necklace from their new line! the sparkle combined with the natural coral + turquoise is beautiful. it complements my style perfectly. to a tee. pun-intended. so I purchased my own.

since when did the weekends become less about relaxing + more about catching up on life?
when friday at 4:00PM rolls around, I’m in a mad dash to attack a list I’ve been building throughout the work week. but the tasks are so much more fun. they typically consist of exploring the city I call home [des moines, IA], spending time with my husband, and designing + shooting photographs for this blog my happy place. but in order to tackle said list, I need an outfit that is dinner + hard work appropriate. for me, this outfit accomplishes just that. it’s colorful + fun, yet comfortable + practical. [speaking of the blog, stay tuned. big things are happening behind the scenes. cannot wait to unveil].
I’ve spent extended periods of time in both chicago + london, and then lived in new york city for nearly two years. the thing I miss most is the unplanned days. the days you’d walk out your front door with no real destination in mind, but just begin walking. around every corner you’d discover a place you’ve never seen before or have always wanted to visit. you didn’t need an agenda. your feet would lead the way. miles felt like a neighborhood block. you didn’t realize the amount of ground you’d covered, until the next morning when your legs were tight + your feet ached.
so whenever I visit a city I set out on a destination-less adventure. the true gems are those you find when you’re not looking. the husband + I’s last trip to chicago was no exception. you can see more of where our wanderings lead us here.
