travels // galena, IL.

I have a love affair with the small town of galena, IL. it is a place my parents would take me as a kid. but I’ve only become fonder of as an adult. any chance to stop, I do.

thankfully, [J] & I had to take the “long way home” on sunday [coming back from chicago], and galena was conveniently┬áin our path. I somehow convinced [J] that I was absolutely starving & we needed to stop for dinner just about the time we approaching galena. and I got my wish, we dined at the galena brewing company. and took a brief walk down the main street. [even pulled off the highway for a quick landscape snapshot].

it is literally magical.

if you have not been to galena, IL ..it is time to start planning your trip. there are great restaurants, wineries, breweries, amazing shopping, historical landmarks galore, beautiful scenery. even better, it’s great during all seasons.

[especially in the fall, when the leaves are changing].

  1. We planned a reunion of some of my college gal pals in Galena a few years ago and it was wonderful! Small town charm at it’s finest!

  2. Oooh it does look adorable. I know you suggested I go there, it has that small town charm. That landscape photo is gorgeous! How far from Chicago is the drive?

    1. oh I was just talking to my boyfriend and I guess its lil 4/5 hours outside the city but he also has a friend who goes there a lot especially during the fall and that its super quaint.

  3. Just visited your blog for the first time via your sidebar on The Daily Tay and immediately smiled. I visited Galena a few years ago. Some of our best friends lived in Chicago at the time and had a small wedding at Eagle Ridge Resort. I absolutely LOVED the town…such a quaint and cute place. Nice post!

  4. Thank you so much for your blog about Galena and my brewpub…Galena Brewing Co. Absolutely thrilled you had a good time there…our mission statement is “Celebrate!”…so I am glad you did! Really glad! Your images are beautiful too…we would love to feature your blog on our website. Would that be ok?
